Inspiration in a landscape setting using acrylic paints | Thursday September 17 | With Sue Anderson

Arrive at Marthadale for a warm meet and greet and a settling morning coffee from 10.15, before beginning promptly at 10.30.

All materials are provided for the workshop.

Each guest will receive a complete painting kit to use during the day and take home afterwards, allowing you to continue exploring and developing your practice. The kit includes high-quality paints, brushes and essential tools personally selected by Sue – the same materials she uses in her own work. The full kit has a retail value of over $250 and has been made available for this workshop at a significantly reduced artist price.

Sue joins us at Marthadale ready to guide you through the expressive possibilities of acrylic painting. With thoughtful instruction and plenty of time to experiment, you will be encouraged to explore colour, texture and composition while discovering your own creative voice.

A small group setting allows for relaxed, attentive learning with plenty of hands-on guidance from Sue. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions, observe techniques and deepen your understanding of the artistic process throughout the day.

Depending on the weather, the class may take place indoors or outside in the Marthadale gardens, allowing the surrounding landscape to inform your work and observation.

Collection from the Sorrento-Queenscliff ferry can also be arranged on request.

Sue Anderson is a respected Bellarine Peninsula artist who has been exhibiting her work since 1983. Her paintings are regularly shown at Australian Galleries in Melbourne and Sydney, as well as Salt Gallery in nearby Queenscliff.

Sue’s work is deeply inspired by the distinctive beauty and character of the Australian landscape. Through painting, drawing, ceramics and printmaking, she responds to her lived experiences of land and sea, capturing moments of place with sensitivity and depth.

In recent years Sue has focused her practice on painting, exploring the richness of Australia’s natural environments and sharing her personal connection to these landscapes through her work.

• There will also be an opportunity to purchase Marthadale produce and a few select retail items should you wish to indulge.

Please bring an apron and wear comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting a little paint on – creativity can be a messy business.

As some activities may take place outdoors, we recommend bringing suitable clothing for changing or cooler weather.

You may also wish to bring a notebook to record observations, ideas or class notes throughout the day. If you are interested in the optional art materials or pantry items mentioned, you may like to come prepared for small purchases.

Most importantly, bring your curiosity, a willingness to learn and an open mind – ready to explore your creativity in a relaxed and inspiring setting.
